tic help

We are here to help if we can

Please take care of your personal belongings when using the MyCiTi service and ensure that you have all your possessions with you before leaving our stations or buses. If you lose or find an item, please report it to us as soon as possible so that we can assist in returning it safely to its owner.

While MyCiTi cannot accept liability for lost or misplaced property, we will make every reasonable effort to assist. Ultimately, passengers are responsible for their own belongings.

What should I do if I find an unattended item on a bus or at a station?

  • If you find an item that does not belong to you, please hand it in at the nearest MyCiTi station as soon as possible. If the item was found on a bus, please note the bus number and route, where possible.
  • Provide details of where and when the item was found to assist us in reuniting it with its owner.
  • Do not open, inspect, or remove any contents from the item.
  • If the item appears suspicious or poses a potential safety risk, do not touch it. Immediately notify a station official, bus driver, or MyCiTi staff member.

What should I do if I lose something on a bus or at a station?

  • Contact the Transport Information Centre on 0800 65 64 63 or email transport.info@capetown.gov.za.
  • Provide a detailed description of the missing item. You will be issued a reference number and notified once an investigation has been completed and the item's status has been confirmed.
  • Valuable items such as mobile phones, jewellery, and other high-value possessions must be reported to the South African Police Service (SAPS) to obtain a case number. You may also be required to provide an affidavit confirming ownership of the item.
  • Unclaimed property that remains uncollected for three months may be donated to a registered charity.
